I Have My Scars You Have Yours

I am a child of history; we all are in some manner or another.

I sat listening to the strong, beautiful souls that came before me.

I heard the tales of the things they did.

Of the ones that in the short lives they were given, do much good, created beauty where they walked.

Everything from marching to give women the right to vote, to burning their bras in Jackson Square!

I am proud to have come from this Legacy of living our Truth.

All the things that they lost, all the equally strong intelligent women we lost.

Why?

Because there were reasons that were theirs, choose to have a pregnancy ended.

The risk that was infection, death.

The Fear of going to a doctor after?

Even when the fever was ravaging them.

Due to my family line, I have the reasons, in their own hand. They range from being raped, to not being able to afford another mouth to feed.

Does this sound cold?

I do not care.

THEIR choices.

THEIR reasons.

HOW DARE WE LET THEIR SACRIFICE BE IN VAIN!

How can any of us look the next generation in the eye?

What do we say, "Sorry I tried they were too strong?"

FUCK THAT!

I know that there will be many that do not agree with me.

Once more let me say this:

I DO NOT CARE!

I have spent my time learning that one voice in the darkness can be enough.

Just to know that you are not alone.

I want to scream and never stop.

I fear that if we lose our voices, they will never return.
